Project Name: SMV Sign Project

Project summary and highlights:

We recently distributed Slow moving Vehicle signs to every person who could use one (most of the visitors to our annual banquet – Approximately 90 People) Another 50 were sent to a local 4H meeting to distribute there. This was at the Peterborough County Celebration of Agriculture banquet on February 8th at Lang Agricultural Heritage Building

Describe lasting and relevant impact to the OFA membership.

This is a project we were really excited about because it was very simple to set up and will have a lasting impact in our community. Most farmers own equipment that does not have an SMV sign or needs a new one that is more visible on the road. This project will certainly help fill some of those gaps.

Bonus – any lessons learned, or surprises?

Almost of the people who attended Celebration of Agriculture in Peterborough County banquet are active farmers and everyone was smiling when our directors handed out the signs. We had some leftover signs that were not distributed due to the amount of people being less than the number of signs we ordered. We then divided up the remainder of the signs and sent some to the 4h dairy club and the 4h beef club of Peterborough. The project was well received.
