Project Name: Grain Entrapment Equipment
Project summary and highlights:
The Huron County Federation of Agriculture purchased 2 pieces of grain extraction equipment for the use of the Fire Departments in Huron County. The equipment included 2 Grain Entrapment coffer dams and 2 Grain Rescue augers. Previously the fire departments in Huron did not have this type of equipment. The equipment will be housed at fire stations to allow timely response across the county.
We partnered with the Huron County Grain Farmers to ensure the fire departments had the option to take the necessary training for this equipment. The Huron County Grain Farmers provided BeGrainSafe training. The training was offered to all municipal fire departments and the firefighters from the Fire Departments of the Municipality of Bluewater and Township of Huron East both underwent this training.
How were funds used, any partner contributions besides the Federation?

Describe lasting and relevant impact to the OFA membership.
Huron County is an agricultural strong area with a large amount of grain and oilseeds providing the livelihood to many farmers. There are many farms with on farm storage. In the event of an emergency the timely access to grain extraction equipment and the access to training on the equipment will be important. This project will ensure our local emergency responders are equipped to handle emergencies that arise.
