Kawartha Lakes Partners on Breakfast ‘From’ the Farm
On August 28th, 2021, Kawartha Lakes Federation partnered with Farm and Food Care Ontario with their Breakfast ‘From’ the Farm at the Lindsay Fairgrounds. The event featured local promotion of food produced on farms to create a farm-fresh breakfast. While COVID-19 prevented a traditional on-farm breakfast, the drive-thru setup allowed visitors to drive through and pick up a bag filled with all the ingredients for a breakfast at home with all locally sourced ingredients. Event organizers prepared 400 bags for the event and saw over 1000 people in that morning’s drive-thru.
The breakfast bags featured a copy of The Real Dirt on Farming publication, sponsor swag and ag-education resources. In celebration of Ontario agriculture and leading up to the event, attendees were invited to take part in a series of live virtual farm tours featuring farms from the community. This event brought together many community groups, hosted together with the Lindsay Agricultural Society and Lindsay Exhibition.
