Kent County Grain Extraction Equipment
The Kent Federation Agriculture (KFA), with the support of the Chatham-Kent Deputy Fire Chief, is acquiring grain rescue equipment for the 16 rural fire departments in Chatham-Kent. The goal is to have a one-grain extraction unit available at each rural fire department in the Municipality as they currently do not have these life-saving devices. Having this equipment at multiple locations saves valuable minutes during emergencies requiring an on-farm extraction.
The KFA is partnering with several local businesses, such as insurance companies, trucking companies, tractor dealerships, grain elevators as well as District 2 of Grain Farmers of Ontario.
