A very important and timely issue about merged property titles was raised in a letter to the editor of the Ontario Farmer printed in the October 29, 2019 edition. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell are not alone in dealing with this issue. Many farmers have been equally shocked to find out that two farm properties they own had been merged without any notification.
We have requested a letter to the editor be printed in an upcoming edition of the Ontario Farmer. In that letter, we are calling on OFA members to write the Ontario Legislative Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs to request that the Committee hold public hearings on Bill 88. This Bill would allow the original property to be retained in the case of a property that has merged due to the death of a joint owner.
