Project Name: Crop Identifier Signs
Project summary and highlights:
In total, eight signs were ordered, and have been strategically placed on fields where there is a high volume of traffic, and perpendicular to the road so that traffic both ways can read the information.
2 x corn, 2 x wheat, 2 x soybean, 1 x farm families, 1 x Proud to grow
We are also helping coordinate a display at the local Napanee Fair on the weekend of August 1-4, 2025, and some signage will be posted there to help spread the message.
Describe lasting and relevant impact to the OFA membership.
The signs are excellent tools to teach the public where their food comes from and instill appreciation for agriculture. They’re designed to last for several cropping seasons which makes them a good investment. They’re portable and able to be moved to different locations across the county, each year. It’s an easy way to showcase agriculture in an affordable way. The information on the signs also promotes how the crop contributes to everyday products beyond the obvious food products. It’s a neat way to share with the public how row crops impact our everyday lives. Ultimately, we are hoping to cultivate appreciation for how agriculture impacts everyone in a positive way.
