Project Name: First Aid Training/Member Engagement BBQ and Farmer Mental Wellness
Project summary and highlights:
Project # 1 – First Aid Course
Frontenac Federation members had the opportunity to learn life saving techniques from the St. John’s Ambulance course. These techniques will be an asset for these individuals on their farming operation and elsewhere in the community in case a medical emergency arises. These individuals now have the basic know how to save a person’s life until an ambulance or EMT arrive.
Project # 2 – Frontenac Membership Appreciation BBQ
Frontenac Federation of Agriculture wanted to express our gratitude to their members for their continued support as members of the FFA and OFA. This membership appreciation bbq also provided a day of networking, fun and relaxation for the entire family. There were kid’s games, prizes to be won and an overall day to enjoy some time away from the farm and visit with their fellow farmers while enjoying a BBQ meal. Clint Cameron, Zone 11 OFA director also was in attendance and spoke with several farmers.
Lasting and relevant impact to the OFA membership.
Project # 1 – First Aid Course
The lasting impacts of offering first aid courses to the farmers in Frontenac county is that we would have more community members trained to respond to emergencies both on and off the farm. As many of our farmers are also volunteers in the community, this will ensure that we will have CPR and AED trained volunteers in case of an emergency. These individuals now have the basic knowledge on how to save a person’s life until an ambulance or EMT arrive.
Project # 2 – Frontenac Membership Appreciation BBQ
This FFA Membership Appreciation BBQ was very well attended with between 80 – 90 farmers in attendance. The BBQ provided an opportunity for members to meet our zone director and MSR for the area. Provided a sense of community amongst members and an opportunity to network with others to chat and learn about each others operation. Building connections within the agricultural community for long lasting and relevant positive impact on the community. Lastly, farmers work hard, this day provided a fun and relaxing day for our membership.
