Project Name: Farmers Social Night
Project Summary and Highlights:
The Dundas Federation of Agriculture (DFA) used the Revive Fund to put on another social night for the farmers in Dundas at Stone Crop Acres.
Highlights included Tom MacGregor, the current chair of the DFA, welcoming everyone to the social. The owner of Stone Crop Acres gave us tickets to Upper Canada Playhouse, the local theater, which we gave away along with bottles of wine as door prizes, and we had two winners.
There were about 60 people in attendance.
Describe lasting and relevant impact to OFA membership:
As an OFA member, farmers and agri-businesspeople are entitled to a lot of benefits, including discounts at various businesses and services. However, the DFA feel that this event works as a more hands-on, personal way of showing appreciation for the local membership and what they do for the community. Being a farmer is a 24/7/365 job that is often a thankless one. We enjoy providing this opportunity for farmers to have a night to get together, unwind and visit with their neighbours over delicious food, and have some goodies to take home. It’s especially a treat during the summer time when farmers are at their busiest.
It’s also a great way to support local business(es), such as Stone Crop and Upper Canada Playhouse.
