OFA, along with representatives from BDO Canada LLP, will be working together to host an upcoming webinar for Ontario farmers on the federal Underused Housing Tax (UHT).
The webinar, which will take place on Thursday, March 9 from 12 noon 1 p.m., will provide participants with a detailed summary of what the Underused Housing Tax entails, the types of properties it applies to and who it applies to. Presenters will also discuss how the tax is calculated and an overview of available exemptions. Lastly, information will be provided regarding the requirements for filing a UHT return (the 2022 return is due May 1, 2023), and the potential penalties for not filing.
Ben Lefort, OFA’s Senior Policy Analyst and lead on all taxation issues for the organization will be joined by Jay Tulsani, Senior Manager in the Indirect Tax Group and lead role on the Underused Housing Tax for BDO Canada LLP and their clients as well as Kurt Oelschlagel, Partner and Tax Specialist for BDO Canada LLP.
The webinar will include a presentation followed by an opportunity for Q & A.
