OFA prides itself in offering members a value-added benefit program. Over the years, many have taken advantage of the fleet discount program with our benefit partners, General Motors and Chrysler/RAM.
Unfortunately, there is currently a worldwide shortage of semi-conductor micro-chips, which has resulted in a reduced production of vehicles among major manufacturers including Chrysler/RAM and General Motors. Semi-conductor micro-chips are essential to modern vehicles as they control several automated systems (power windows, cruise control, blind spot monitoring, etc.).
OFA has received feedback from several members that have been directly impacted by the semi-conductor micro-chip shortage. Dealerships are experiencing an inventory shortage that pertains specifically to trucks. The situation has created a seller’s market and dealers may be wanting more for their in-stock units and may only offer the retail price for trucks sitting on the lot.
The production shortage also impacts factory-ordered vehicles from Chrysler/RAM and General Motors. Members are encouraged to contact their dealer for manufacture-specific deadlines for ordering. Please keep in mind this could change at any time due to COVID-19 restrictions and semi-conductor supply.
OFA and our partners, GM and Chrysler/RAM encourage members who may be considering a new vehicle purchase through our Fleet Vehicle Program to place their factory order for a 2022 Model Year vehicle with their preferred manufacturer by mid-May 2021. The landing of these factory orders will likely be the summer/fall 2021. Again, production is subject to change due to COVID-19 restrictions and semi-conductor micro-chip availability.
Please contact your preferred vehicle dealer for more information and to place your order.
