Project Name: Open Farm Day
Project summary and highlights:
The MNSFA hosted an Open Farm Day on July 26th, 2025, for farmers and the public to connect, network and learn about the innovations in agriculture on the Island. Approximately 100 people attended to tour different variety plots and precision agricultural systems and hear from speakers on soil health, breeding for disease resistance, OSCIA programs and stream restoration.
How were funds used, any partner contributions besides the Federation?
Funds were used to cover food, advertising, and porta potties. Funding was also received from BMO, LAMCAC, Sprucedale Agro-Mart and Sharpe Farm Supply, which helped offset the contribution of MNSFA.
Were there any organizations that partnered in-kind contributions?
Manitoulin Trout Farm donated a tote full of ice and the Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance donated booties for biosecurity.
