Project Name: 2024 Billboard Project – Road Safety
Project summary and highlights:
This is a public awareness campaign for the Safety of Farm vehicles on the Road. We erected 2 billboards in Huron County along highways that highlight farm equipment and the need to be aware of the presence of farm equipment on the roads. The billboards draw attention to the need for safety considerations. The billboard rental company printed the billboards and installed the billboards. We used a graphic that OFA had previously used for our graphic and we added our logo to that graphic.
The billboards were placed along roadways where people visiting the area and locals could see. One billboard was placed on Highway 86 outside of Wingham for view of people driving West. The Second Billboard was placed on Highway 4 near Hensall and is viewed by people driving South. We have reached out to the Coalition for Huron Injury Prevention for some cross promotion on social media and anticipate that occurring this summer and fall.
Partner Organizations:
The Coalition for Huron Injury Prevention is providing promotion on their social media accounts this summer and fall.
Describe lasting and relevant impact to the OFA membership.
To the greater community this project will showcase the information that farm vehicles are using the local roads and that care needs to be taken to pass safely.
Lessons Learned -We would recommend driving to the sites and inspecting the sites prior to signing the contract. We found one sign was placed beside an empty billboard and it was not as aesthetically pleasing. We also liked the visual of the sign placed near cropland better than the one placed near a bush.
