The Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) is ramping up promotions to help make it easier for Ontarians to support local food and farming when making their shopping decisions.
The cornerstone is a recently released online article that highlights Ontario food and farm products that are always in season and identifies how consumers can find local products. It’s hosted on a website called Innovating Canada and featured in their product of Canada section:
A slightly shorter version of the same article was run as a full-page ad in the February 27 edition of the National Post, and digital ads encouraging Ontarians to buy homegrown all year long are now running online. And it formed the basis of the most recent newsletter sent to the OFA’s community of almost 75,000 Home Grown supporters where it sure struck a chord with subscribers, generating the highest number of clicks and engagements ever.
Home Grown encourages people to show their support for local food and farm products and farmland preservation by signing up to receive a regular newsletter – which almost 75,000 Ontarians have already done!
Regular social media posts are also running on the OFA’s Home Grown account on Instagram and shared across the OFA channels that highlight the depth and breadth of Ontario agri-food production.
Since January, OFA directors have participated in more than a dozen media interviews – and counting – on buying and supporting local food and farming, and monthly news releases sent to media are making sure the topic stays in the news cycle.
