Learn more about the issues that matter to Ontario’s 38,000 farmers in OFA’s latest issue of From the Field. OFA’s quarterly newsletter is one of the ways we communicate directly with provincial policymakers about the opportunities and the challenges facing Ontario farmers, farm businesses and rural communities.
With this winter 2020 issue, we are expanding the reach of From the Field to include MPs in Ontario as many of the regulatory and legislative issues we deal with are governed by provincial and federal legislation.
Over the last several months, there have been encouraging announcements from government on files that OFA is tracking – many of these align with issues covered in our ongoing Producing Prosperity in Ontario campaign.
Inside this issue, OFA provides an advocacy update highlighting our reactions to legislative announcements and issues we have been working on – from natural gas to broadband, trespassing and rural infrastructure investments. We provide an update on OFA’s Act Now campaign in support of Bill 156 and outline key issues and priorities included in our pre-budget submission, which is focused on the need for significant and sustained infrastructure investments in rural Ontario.
The newsletter also features information about OFA’s submission to the Conversation Authority consultations, climate change and Business Risk Management (BRM) programs.
