GUELPH ON [November 18, 2024] – Farmers from across Ontario will be meeting in Toronto next week for policy discussions, networking and updates on key issues impacting food and farming in the province.
They’ll be taking part in the annual general meeting of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA), the leading advocate and strongest voice of the province’s farmers through government relations, farm policy recommendations, public and community outreach and more.
“The agriculture and agri-food sector is one of the most important pillars of the Ontario economy, and as farmers, we value the opportunity to get together for discussions and updates on the issues affecting our sector,” says Drew Spoelstra, farmer and president of the OFA. “The annual meeting is the most important event on the OFA’s annual calendar and a great opportunity to reflect, connect and set priorities for the year ahead.”
This year’s event will take place November 26 and 27 at the Delta Toronto Airport Hotel & Convention Centre. In addition to the business of the organization, including Director-at-Large election, presentations on leading issues, resolutions and more, the agenda also features a variety of professional development opportunities.
Two interactive panel discussion will bring diverse perspectives to two very important issues facing farm businesses:
- Turning advocacy into action: how to deliver powerful municipal delegations
- Powering Agriculture: the critical role of energy affordability on the farm
As well, branding expert and bestselling author Jeremy Miller will present a keynote address about what makes a brand stand out and attract customers.
The event will also feature presentations by a variety of provincial politicians. Delegates will have opportunities to network and connect with fellow OFA members, industry stakeholders and other participants at a welcome reception and exhibitor showcase on November 25, and the Ontario Harvest Celebration on November 26.
More information, including how to participate, is available on the OFA website.
