How to become an OFA member through Farm Business Registration
Farm Business Registration membership: This is the most well-known way to become and OFA member. Ontario farms that earned a gross income of at least $7,000 in the past year must register their business through Agricorp to qualify for certain programs and benefits.
Once registered, those farm businesses are eligible for:
- farm property class tax rate for farmland
- farm vehicle license plates
- member benefits and discounts with OFA partners
- participation in special government programs for agriculture such as
- Wildlife Damage Compensation Program for crop or livestock losses
- Cost-share programs for on-farm environmental improvements and projects
- Access to timely workshops and information sessions on key topics of importance to members like farm succession, insurance, fire and crime prevention, and selling directly to consumers.
Individual Farm Membership: Individuals who are or have been directly involved in farming but who do not otherwise quality for Farm Business Registration can buy an Individual Farm Membership. OFA also counts 29 agricultural and commodity organizations among our valued members.
