OFA has provided comments to Prime Minister Mark Carney regarding the 2025 Federal Budget. OFA acknowledges Canada’s 2025 Federal Budget is a positive step for agri-food growth, particularly through measures like reinstating the Accelerated Investment Incentive, strengthening CFIA’s trade modernization efforts, and investing in national trade-enabling infrastructure. However, OFA highlights key gaps that remain; most notably the need to permanently raise the interest-free portion of the Advance Payments Program to $350,000, develop a national strategy to protect critical food and farm input supply chains during disruptions, and maintain funding for Best Management Practices. OFA continues to emphasize that agriculture and food processing are core economic drivers that must be recognized and supported as strategic sectors to fully unlock Canada’s growth potential.
