Food security in Ontario remains strong during COVID-19 pandemic
GUELPH, ON [March 17, 2020] – In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) is reassuring Ontarians about the strength and safety of the local food supply system. Despite consumer concerns with availability, Canadian and Ontario products continue to be produced, processed and distributed through our food distribution networks across the province.
Bill 163 puts Food Day Ontario on the calendar
GUELPH, ON [February 20, 2020] – Ontarians will now have a day dedicated to local food – Food Day Ontario – thanks to a private member’s bill proposed by MPP Vincent Ke. Bill 163, Food Day Ontario (Food Day Canada in Ontario) Act, 2019 was introduced to the legislature in December 2019 and completed second reading at Queen’s Park today.

Lennon chosen as new OFA General Manager
GUELPH, ON [July 2, 2019] – The Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) is excited to announce that Cathy Lennon has been hired as its new general manager. Cathy will take over the reins as general manager of OFA, following the retirement of Neil Currie on August 30, 2019. A long-time agricultural leader and advocate for the sector, Lennon brings more than 20 years of experience to lead Ontario’s largest general farm organization.
Provincial budget delivers mixed bag for Ontario agriculture
GUELPH, ON [April 12, 2019] – Ontario’s agri-food sector received some promising news in the provincial government’s 2019 budget, delivered on April 11 by Finance Minister Vic Fedeli. The document – “Protecting What Matters Most” – included encouraging news about rural broadband and an accelerated capital cost allowance program, but lacked details on how rural Ontario will fare on investments for hospitals, schools and mental health care.
