QUEST and Pollution Probe have launched the Smart Energy Communities SCORECARD initiative to develop a standardized approach for evaluating and benchmarking pathways to Smart Energy Communities in Canada
The SCORECARD project will result in:
- Standardized key performance indicators to define pathways to Smart Energy Communities
- A methodology to evaluate how local governments, utilities, real estate and other sectors contribute to Smart Energy Communities
- A SCORECARD Report and web-based dashboard, profiling community scores, and a roadmap for action to advance becoming a Smart Energy Community
The project seeks six pilot communities to participate in the development of the SCORECARD. Successful participants will benefit by:
- Receiving a score, evaluating the policies and processes of the community
- Receiving advisory support from the project team to improve the community’s score
- Contributing to a national, standard approach for evaluating Smart Energy Communities
- Connecting to a national community network with leading energy data collection practices
Who should apply:
- Local government staff or organizations that have been endorsed to apply on behalf of a local government (e.g. a local energy distributor or not-for-profit organization)
- Communities that have a history of collaboration among local community energy stakeholders (e.g. Local government, energy distribution companies, community groups)
- Communities of all sizes and contexts are invited to apply
- There is no cost to apply or participate as a Pilot Community in the Scorecard. Council endorsement is not required to be eligible
You can access a word document version of the questions, for reference only, here.
The deadline to submit an Expression of Interest is November 30 at 5 PM. Pilot Communities will be engaged through September 2019, and the Scorecard will evaluate communities defined by local government boundaries (e.g. municipal boundaries, or Indigenous community boundaries).
