OFA provided comments to the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks regarding the proposed interim changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007 and a proposal for the Species Conservation Act, 2025.
Ontario agriculture coexists with biodiversity and provides key environmental services. Species at risk on farms reflect stewardship, not conflict. Species at risk protections must not undermine agricultural activities.
OFA believes that the proposed amendments to the Endangered Species Act and replacement with the Species Conservation Act weakens protections, prioritizes development, and dilutes conservation goals.
