OFA provided comments to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing regarding their Proposed amendment to Ontario Regulation 299-19 Additional Residential Units, made under the Planning Act.

The prosperity of Ontario’s Agricultural System relies on protections that redirect non-agricultural uses and developments into appropriate areas, away from the countryside.

OFA has taken this as an opportunity to raise concerns and advise against using this framework in rural areas. Many of the proposed exceptions or relaxations of municipal planning tools are not appropriate in the countryside.
