OFA’s letter to Minister Yurek noting OFA’s support of the Ontario government’s efforts to remove unnecessary and burdensome red tape. OFA highlighted the approval and classification process for agricultural crop protection products. OFA supports the removal of the regulations that restrict the use of neonicotinoid-treated seed in Ontario under Ontario’s Pesticides Act. OFA recommended the Ministry provide a Process Document that outlines the steps an application would undergo in Ontario’s pesticide regulatory process and outlines the roles and responsibilities of the Ministry and of the Ontario Pesticides Advisory Committee. OFA also recommended the Ministry set a service standard to improve the transparency and timeliness of the pesticide classification process.
