OFA made Minister Hardeman aware that OFA fully supports requiring an Agricultural Impact Assessment (AIA) for urban settlement boundary expansions, infrastructure and aggregate applications within the area covered by the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, the Greenbelt Plan and the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan, and to a lesser extent within the area subject to the Niagara Escarpment Plan. OFA feels AIAs are important to ensuring adverse impacts to the agri-food sector are avoided or minimized. OFA wholeheartedly supports the principle of using Agricultural Impact Assessments to mitigate the impacts of non-agricultural developments on neighbouring farm operations. OFA encouraged the Minister to finalize the Agricultural Impact Assessment Guidance Document and release it for widespread use.
