Ontario has ended licence plate and sticker renewal fees for passenger vehicles, light-duty trucks (3,000 kg or less), motorcycles and mopeds, effective March 13, 2022. This includes personal, business and company vehicles.
Service Ontario will refund sticker fees paid between March 1, 2020, and March 12, 2022, for vehicles owned by individuals. To get a refund for individually owned vehicles, ensure the address on your vehicle permit or driver’s licence is up to date, as that’s where your refund will be sent. There are no sticker refunds for company or business sticker fees paid for the period of March 2020 to March 2022.
You need to pay any outstanding fines and tolls by March 7, 2022. You also need to pay any outstanding fees (prior to March 1, 2020) by March 7, 2022.
Ontario has not eliminated sticker fees for FARM-plated vehicles. FARM plates are commercial plates for farmers with a valid Farm Business Registration (FBR) number. Current plate fees;
OFA has asked the government to consider eliminating farm vehicle plate renewal fees.
