OFA provided comments to the Ministry of Energy and Electrification regarding proposed changes to cost allocation and recovery of certain electricity system connection infrastructure for high growth areas.
It is essential to ensure that rural electricity infrastructure is climate-resilient, supports expanded demand, and provides improved power quality for agricultural and rural businesses. Providing assurances to rural distribution companies so that they can build the connection capacity to meet higher forecasted electrification, and increased development and housing, should also include assurances needed to build regional climate-resilience, and quality improvements needed to meet those higher forecasted loads.
OFA fully supports programs and legislation that enhance energy efficiency, provide affordable energy solutions, and address the unique needs of rural and agricultural stakeholders.
