OFA thanked the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) for proposing a regular spring black bear season where there is a regular fall hunt. Implementing a permanent spring black bear hunting season is a positive action that may help to lessen the crop, livestock or poultry losses farmers face. In addition, OFA recommended that the MNRF implement spring and fall black bear hunting and trapping seasons in Wildlife Management Units 78A and 78B to address increased bear damage to crops reported in those areas.
