OFA believes rural Ontario needs an integrated waste management system that incorporates strong diversion, reuse, and recycling components. OFA supports Framework Resource Recovery Targets that consider community size, density, and geographic distribution. OFA recommends expanding recycling programs to accept pesticides and fertilizer containers, plastic bale wrap, bags and other items used on the farm. OFA also calls for government commitments for biogas-to-renewable natural gas refinement infrastructure, two-way natural gas pipeline infrastructure, and the adoption of a renewable natural gas fuel standard.
