OFA provided comments to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks regarding Amendments to Reduce Records of Site Condition That Are Not Supporting Brownfields Redevelopment.
OFA supports the initiative to redevelop brownfields where human and environmental health and safety are preserved and is pleased to see provincial attention on this important topic.
Ontario’s Prime Agricultural Areas must be protected from being developed into non-agricultural uses. Brownfield and greyfield redevelopment are self-evident as a means of redirecting non-agricultural development away from the countryside and thereby protecting farmland. OFA would like to see more action on the part of the Government of Ontario and its municipalities that would encourage intensification, infilling, and redevelopment.
