OFA reiterated comments on the development of the recovery strategy for the Algonquin wolf. In our February 14, 2018 submission, we emphasized the importance of farm organization representation on the proposed Algonquin Wolf Advisory Group. Any strategy must balance the recovery objectives with the predation mitigation needs of Ontario’s livestock farmers. Expanding Algonquin wolf and coyote protection zones into highly modified agricultural landscapes will not benefit recovery efforts but will exacerbate the viability of livestock farmers.
