Louis Roesch has represented farmers in Essex and Kent counties on the board of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture since 2014. From 2012 to 2014, he was on the board as a Director-at-Large.
Together with his family, he grows crops, raises livestock and runs an on-farm retail outlet selling their own pork and eggs and local Ontario beef and chicken.
Louis, a third-generation farmer, is an active community volunteer on behalf of agriculture, including the Chatham-Kent municipal drainage board. He has long worked on a variety of files to ensure fair treatment for farmers, local businesses and rural landowners on key issues. This includes various current hydro corridor projects in the Chatham-Kent and Essex areas and working to achieve exemptions for agriculture when HST was first being implemented in Ontario.
He is also an active environmental steward; his farm was home to the first project measuring phosphorus outputs into the Lower Thames watershed.
In 2024, Louis was recognized by the local Chamber of Commerce with the Friend of Agriculture award, and he and his wife Clara were named Agriculturalists of the Year by the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce in 2014.
