A vibrant group of young and beginning farmers gathered at the Marienbad Restaurant in London, Ontario on Wednesday, March 4 for the Young Farmer Tailgate Social hosted by the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA). The event provided attendees the chance to finish their day at the London Farm Show with complimentary food, refreshments and conversation. Attendees mingled with several OFA benefit program providers and heard from OFA director Drew Spoelstra, who spoke about his role within OFA and why young members should start getting involved. Spoelstra also discussed his experience of taking on a leadership role as a young farmer. Members had the opportunity to interact and network with regional OFA staff and local county federation board members to gain the contacts and confidence necessary to consider attending a county board meeting in the future.
The tailgate social was organized in an effort to build on OFA’s relationship with young farmers and engage them with their farm organization. Thank you to everyone for attending and making the event a success.
