Earlier this month, OFA hosted a by-election for the counties of Elgin and Oxford to elect a new Zone 4 Director to represent their interests on the Board of Directors. The election was held due to a vacancy left by out-going director Melissa Schneider following her resignation to pursue a full-time job opportunity.
OFA is pleased to announce and welcome Tracey Arts to the Provincial Board as the new Zone 4 Director representing members in Elgin-Oxford. Tracey grew up in the Niagara Peninsula on a dairy farm and now farms with her husband Ruud and twin boys Willem and Lucas in Oxford County. In addition to dairy farming, she brings a background as a veterinary technician with experience in both small and large animals, lab work and research.
Tracey is currently in her fourth year on the Oxford County Federation of Agriculture Board of Directors, most recently as Vice President, and has represented the counties of Oxford and Elgin on OFA’s Policy Advisory Council (PAC) for the last three years.
OFA would also like to thank Art Albas who ran for the Zone 4 position and extend our sincere appreciation to Melissa Schneider for her dedication and service to the industry. In addition to serving on the OFA board, Melissa served as President of the Elgin Federation of Agriculture and sat as a PAC member.
Tracey will begin her term with the Board of Directors on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.
