It’s that time of year when farm equipment is preparing to hit the roadways again, traveling from farm to farm and field to field. And when slow moving vehicles share the road with motorists, OFA reminds farmers to remember the rules of the road to stay safe this season.
Last year, OFA hosted a webinar on the topic of Keeping your Wheels on the Road in an effort to help OFA members avoid delays on the side of the road during a busy planting season. The webinar served as a timely reminder and refresher for farmers.
It covered road rules and requirements for farm tractors, towed farm implements, self-propelled implements of husbandry and farm use of ATVs and off-road vehicles. The webinar also provided a thorough review of key terms, rules of the road, towing, licensing requirements, restrictions and other important areas where the Highway Traffic Act impacts farm equipment traveling roadways.

OFA wishes all Ontario farmers a safe and successful planting season. Remember to take the time to put safety first on the roadways, on your farm and for your family.
