The Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) is hosting its 2018 Annual General Meeting at the Hamilton Convention Centre in Hamilton beginning Monday, November 19 at 8:15 a.m. and closing Tuesday, November 20 at noon. Registration opens Sunday, Nov. 18 at 6:00 p.m. and continues Monday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 a.m. This year’s theme, Prosperity Grows Here, is an extension of the Producing Prosperity in Ontario campaign focused on rural economic growth. The theme celebrates the opportunities Ontario’s agri-food industry and rural communities offer for the economic wellbeing of the entire province.
Keynote speaker and author of 13 Ways to Kill Your Community, Doug Griffiths will highlight the importance of rural and small communities. There will be leadership elections for two vice president positions and one director-at-large. And five workshops will cover mental wellbeing, technology and data on the farm, succession planning, supporting value-added opportunities and how to influence municipal politicians.
The event brings together members, industry representatives and key stakeholders to discuss key issues impacting our agricultural and food industry, Ontario’s rural communities, participate in progressive workshops, hear from government leaders and vote for OFA leadership.
Again this year, attendees can download the 2018 AGM event app from the App Store or Google Play. Using the app, attendees can access the agenda, guest speaker bios, election candidate profiles, view workshops, learn about the keynote speaker, explore exhibitors and sponsors and engage with fellow guests. The app also offers a fun and interactive gaming experience with a chance to win great prizes.
