Making the Most of Manure – Agrisuite Manure Workshops
1 February, 2022 - 3 February, 2022
Under a new project funded by OMAFRA, Farm & Food Care Ontario (FFCO) has partnered with the Ontario Professional Agricultural Contractors Association (OPACA) on a project titled Making the Most of Livestock Manure 2022. Under this project, they will be hosting workshops discussing how livestock manure can help offset fertilizer price increases and supply chain delays.
A free software package called AgriSuite from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) is available to help farmers – and the crop consultants working with them – figure out how to make the best possible use of livestock nutrients on their soil and on their crops.
A series of practical online workshops on determining the value of different types of manure using AgriSuite will take place February 1, 2 and 3, hosted by Timing Matters: Peer to Peer and Ontario Professional Agri-Contractors Association.
Each session will feature Christine Brown, OMAFRA Field Crop Sustainability Specialist, who will highlight how to use AgriSuite to do nutrient calculations, along with farmers, agri-contractors and agronomists who will share how to put that information to use on the farm.
- February 1: Liquid Hog Manure; Digestate
- February 2: Liquid dairy manure; Solid beef, sheep and veal manure
- February 3: Solid poultry manure
Workshops are free; registration is available at https://opaca.net/. The entire collection of AgriSuite tools is available to download at www.ontario.ca/agrisuite.
