Bruce Buttar represented farmers in his area on the Ontario Federation of Agriculture board from 1998 to 2007, and has served as the OFA director for Hastings, Lennox & Addington, Northumberland and Prince Edward Counties since 2012. A fifth-generation farmer, he farms north of Cobourg with his wife Cindy and son Leighton, where they have a small herd of beef cattle, sell freezer beef, and grow wheat, corn and soybeans.
He’s a municipal councillor in the Township of Hamilton, member of the Northumberland Agricultural Advisory Committee and a past chair of both the Port Hope Agricultural Society and the Northumberland County Dairy Producers Committee.
Bruce has a particular interest in land use issues and pension governance.
